Overview

This 3-day cross-border safari combines two of East Africa’s most iconic primate experiences: gorilla trekking in Uganda and golden monkey tracking in Rwanda. The journey moves through the lush highlands and misty forests of the Virunga conservation region.

You will visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for mountain gorillas and Volcanoes National Park for golden monkeys.

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda

Your safari guide picks you up early from Kigali or Entebbe and begins the scenic drive toward southwestern Uganda.

Enjoy rolling hills, terraced landscapes, forests, and rural communities along the way.

Cross the Uganda–Rwanda border with assistance from your guide for immigration clearance.

Stop for lunch en route at a local restaurant.

Arrive in the evening at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking experience.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Transfer to Rwanda

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for registration and briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers.

Enter the rainforest for your gorilla trekking adventure. The trek may take 2–6 hours depending on gorilla movement.

Once located, spend one unforgettable hour observing the gorilla family in their natural habitat.

Return from the forest and have lunch before a short rest.

In the afternoon, begin your cross-border transfer into Rwanda, passing through scenic highlands and rural settlements.

Arrive in the evening near Volcanoes National Park.

Relax and prepare for the next day’s golden monkey tracking experience.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park & Departure

After breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for briefing.

Begin your golden monkey tracking experience in Volcanoes National Park. These playful primates are known for their golden-orange fur and energetic movement through bamboo forests.

Enjoy photography opportunities and views of the Virunga volcanic ranges.

After the trek, return for lunch and later transfer to Kigali for airport or hotel drop-off.
