Day 1: Gorilla Trekking Safari Arrival in Kigali & Volcanoes National Park
Your Gorilla Trekking Safari begins with pick-up from your hotel in Kigali or Kigali International Airport. After a short briefing, depart for Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda, enjoying scenic views of rolling hills, rural villages, and beautiful countryside landscapes along the way.
Upon arrival, visit the Gorilla Guardians Village for an immersive cultural experience. Learn about Rwanda’s traditions, conservation efforts, and local heritage through traditional dances, storytelling, and craft demonstrations.
Later, transfer to your lodge near Volcanoes National Park for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast, head into Volcanoes National Park for an exciting golden monkey trekking experience. Trek through the bamboo forest in search of these rare and playful primates, known for their energetic behavior and striking golden fur.
After the trek, continue your journey to Uganda through the Cyanika border. Enjoy beautiful views of terraced hills, villages, and lush landscapes as you travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay near the forest.
Day 3: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari Experience
Day three is the highlight of your Gorilla Trekking Safari. After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced park rangers before starting your gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Hike through dense rainforest trails in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek can take several hours depending on the location of the gorillas, but the experience is truly rewarding. Once found, spend one magical hour observing the gorillas as they feed, groom, and interact in their natural habitat.
This unforgettable wildlife encounter is often described as one of the greatest safari experiences in Africa.
After the trek, return to your lodge to relax, reflect on the day’s adventure, and enjoy dinner and overnight
Day 4: Wildlife Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, depart Bwindi and continue your Gorilla Trekking Safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Drive through the famous Ishasha sector, well known for its rare tree-climbing lions.
Enjoy a game drive en route as you search for elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and other wildlife across the open savannah plains. The scenic landscapes and diverse wildlife make this part of the safari especially memorable.
Continue to your lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park for dinner and overnight. In the evening, enjoy another short game drive for more wildlife viewing opportunities
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari
After an early breakfast, head to Kyambura Gorge or Kalinzu Forest for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience. Walk through the tropical forest with experienced guides as you track chimpanzees and learn about their behavior, communication, and habitat.
This part of the Gorilla Trekking Safari offers another incredible opportunity to experience Africa’s primates in the wild.
In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, one of Uganda’s best wildlife viewing areas. Spot large groups of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and a variety of bird species along the shoreline.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Day 6: End of Your Gorilla Trekking Safari in Kigali
After breakfast and a short morning game drive, begin your return journey to Kigali, Rwanda. Enjoy beautiful countryside scenery and local communities along the way.
Upon arrival in Kigali, enjoy a brief city tour visiting important landmarks such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft markets, and cultural sites.
After the tour, transfer to your hotel or Kigali International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Gorilla Trekking Safari through Rwanda and Uganda
